i'm back again! this time with a post about simplifying my life! i've read a lot of books in the past about simplifying and taking the unnecessary out of your life and detoxing from the waste that isn't good for you. and those are all great things that i plan on doing in the future. but i think the first step of simplifying life is to declutter!
for most of us...me included...this seems like a daunting project. my closet is full of things i haven't worn in months and my desk drawers are filled with old paperwork.
how i am going to approach this is to take small steps. this may seem like common sense but for me and for some others it isn't. i tend to get bursts of energy and want to do everything all at once but end up running out of energy half way through and feeling overwhelmed which tends to make the problem worse.
each week i'm going to focus on one part of my life to declutter so that i can take it step by step. for example, this week i'm going to do shoes. i'm going to organize and decide what shoes i wear and which ones to donate. having a week to complete a seemingly small task will help me concentrate on other areas of my life while decluttering so that i can focus on more than one thing while i'm trying to organize which is usually a tough task for me!
the first step is to make a list of everything that needs to be decluttered. this is a daunting task in itself but once you have it all written down you are more likely to do it and able to break it down.
